| I vaguely heard the date of August 10 for fall sports tryouts, but Google is not my friend and I can't find any further info. I'm looking for boys junior varsity soccer tryout days. If anyone can give me further info, I'd really appreciate it, as we were trying to plan a weekend away. Are try-outs multiple days for JV? If they make it, do practices start the next Monday? Are practices usually in the afternoon (so if we drove back Monday morning we'd be okay)? Any info welcome! I know the answers might be slightly unknown but it would be great to know how it has worked in the past. |

Highly school dependent.
Some schools have kids try out all week while others will make their first cuts in a day or two and then have second cuts, third cuts or even fourth cuts. Our DC's school had tryouts in the morning. Every coach has his own system and it also depends on field availability. They can start as early as Aug. 10 or as late as Aug. 13. https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/athletics/parent/ |

+1. Or the coach. (Our coach was very responsive when I inquired.). Also, our HS has a sports night on May 31 for incoming students (mostly incoming 9th graders). That's entirely school dependent, but if you contact the AD soon they will surely tell you if they're having such a thing. |
Yep and if you are having a hard time finding that information, call the main office and they can assist you. |

I believe tryouts start August 9. It's a good rule of thumb - don't plan anything for after August 9. After tryouts, the kids are expected to practice and there may be a few Saturday practices.
For all intents and purposes, summer and those summer trips are to be taken before the second Wednesday in August when dealing with high school athletes. |
