| In my daughter's elementary school in Montgomery county, MD, multiple children are getting strep throat two and even three times. This seems completely out of the realm of normal. Anyone else seeing this? |
| We are in southeastern PA and same here. My son has had a sore throat for four days so we took him into the ped today. His was not strep, but they doctor said that every other kid they've seen for the last two days has had strep. |
| If the kids keep getting it they should get checked after ABX are done. It may not be a second infection but the 1st never cleared. |
| Also FYI lots of kids this season are reporting stomach symptoms w/ strep infections. |
| Yes, it tore through our elementary school in the winter/early spring. My oldest got it once and my youngest got it three times! We’re in Crofton, MD. |
| Seeing the same at our school. Peds says it's being seen in kids who had covid. Covid infection impacts your immune system, and that's why we're seeing so much now. Hard to tell what this may look like a few years down the line |

I'm in VA, but yes with us too. Both my kids had it this year, and they'd never had it before (10 and 7 years old). Even my spouse got it at one point too, I think at work.

| Yeah it just seems super weird to me that so many kids are getting it multiple times. This never happened when my older daughter was in elementary school. I mean strep would go around, some kids would get it and take antibiotics and that would be that. I don't know if this is still some kind of leftover immunity issue from the COVID days...or some particularly virulent strain of strep that is resistant to antibiotics??Either way it seems very out of the ordinary to me but no one is really talking about it. |
My 3 kids had covid in 2021 and haven't had strep since 2015 or so. For the anecdote. I don't believe the pediatrician. I think kids weren't exposed to it during the pandemic and now there's a big resurgence. Some kids are more prone to it than others. I used to get it every year as a kid. |
Oh I guess their covid was winter 2022 fwiw. |
If not covid, what do you think has changed? There has never been this much strep going around, multiple rounds in each class one after another. |
How silly. Almost all kids have had covid at some point by now. |
Kids with crappy and underdeveloped immune systems from canceled years of school and mask wearing. |
Majority that keep getting it have had covid. It’s just the beginning of what having covid can/might mean for people. |
Only 1 in our family has had it |
