Does anyone have feedback on Just Us Kids? I saw some mixed reviews on US Kids, but Just Us Kids is the DOJ-affiliated day care. Thank you |
Our son is there - and we've really loved it so far. His teachers are terrific and caring, and his days seem full and interesting. Do you have any specific questions? |
OP here - thanks for the response. How have you liked the management? I guess I'm just trying to get a general sense of the Center and see if there are any particularly positive or negative responses. I appreciate your feedback. |
I think the Director seems great - must say that during the application process, I was not a huge fan of hers (and probably she was not a big fan of mine ...) as I was quite anxious about finding day care and I kept hoping that she'd be able to provide more information about the wait list process & status than she was able. Since we've been there (about 9 months now), I've been very impressed with her - she's very organized and seems to do a terrific job of keeping so many different things on track. I'd say she's not really a warm-and-fuzzy person, but my son has developed a very close relationship with her and doesn't walk past her office without wanting to stop in and say 'hi' and 'bye.' I'm impressed with the range of activities the kids do, with how much the teachers care (and the fact that the teachers in rooms other than my son's room all seem to know him and greet him enthusiastically when we arrive gives me a nice, warm feeling). In terms of negatives - the biggest is that there's not a good outdoor space. There is terrific indoor play space - both an indoor playground and a great all-purpose, runaround room - but for outdoor play, the kids tend to either use the patio (which has no play equipment) or walk to nearby areas. |
If you are interested in other good child development centers in downtown DC -- you might want to take a look at GAO's Tiny Findings at 441 G Street. It has been quite a few years since I was actually in the place, but it was a very warm, caring place with very low turnover, nice facilities (including nice outside play area) and a play-based program. It also offers limited slots for infants and the ratios are really good. For infants, only 3.5 babies per staff person. Given how many hours they sleep, that ratio allowed for lots of being held, rocked, and LOVED, not just propped up for feedings and left alone to fall asleep. |
Thanks! |
