Have celebs abandoned social media?

Anonymous
I feel like just a few years ago, it used to be MUCH more common for actors to “live tweet” together as episodes of a tv show came out. That appears to not be a thing anymore, even with HBO shows that don’t release episodes all at once. I recently started watching a very popular tv show (that’s still running) and realized literally none of the cast is on social media.

Maybe they're on a different platform other than Twitter. I just watched James Van Der Beek on Instagram show a video of a snake they caught on his Texas property.

Dawson? That’s stretching celebrity…

Timbaland goes live on TT often. He lets people join his live, and he listens to their music. If he likes it, he has them send him more samples of their work.

Snoop goes live on IG.

Twitter is dead now. And social media is no longer new and exciting.

I would abandon it. Ever read the comments on celebrity tweets, posts, etc. People are unhinged. I wouldn't put up with that sh--.

Social media is so fake. It's over now. No one cares anymore.

I heard it's now less common to get incentives in their contracts for promoting the show on social media. It used to be very common to have clauses in the contracts that the stars of a show would get $x extra for hitting certain promotional parameters using their social media. These go away as contracts are renegotiated and shows age. Also, instead of having the celebs use their private accounts to do the promo, shows now have 'takeover' days where one or two cast members will control the show's main social media account & post for a day. This helps control the flow of information and also protects the celebs from being bombarded with negativity on their private feeds.

OP here, that makes more sense.

Well Daniel Radcliffe is still promoting his Harry Potter stuff all over his Instagram, despite throwing J. K. Rowling under the bus (without whom he would be nobody).
