Apparently Senior awards night includes recognition of the top 5% of each graduating class, pursuant to a Maryland statute (https://govt.westlaw.com/mdc/Document/ND7B72AE0A7E011DBB5DDAC3692B918BC?viewType=FullText&originationContext=documenttoc&transitionType=CategoryPageItem&contextData=(sc.Default))
Given that MCPS doesn't rank its students (or at least doesn't tell students their rankings), anyone know from prior year experience (or other actual knowledge) how the top 5% is calculated? |
| Excellent question. I can't find any info online, except a few non-MCPS schools that announced their winners on their websites. |
MCPS may not publish ranks but they know all the GPAs. |
From the GPA. If you're interested, you can ask whether the school uses the weighted or unweighted GPA. |
