I have tickets to something at the Lincoln Theater on Sunday evening. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to and from there when I will be coming home after dark. I know how to get there but I am not all that familiar with the area surrounding the theater. Is there a place to park, even if I have to pay? I'm afraid if I Uber it will be tough to get an Uber home with the crush of people leaving at once. I don't want to metro by myself after dark.
What say all of you? Thanks. |
| The capacity is 1225. You'll be fine getting an Uber. That's hardly a blip. |
| I live nearby. I'd still urge metro. Parking will be tough but possible on a Sunday night. There's not a nearby garage as far as I'm aware. You'll be parallel parking on residential streets. Check out 13th above and below U as well as Wallach Place (one block, one way, not everyone knows about it) and S and T. |

We went to a show at the Lincoln a few months ago. We parked in the garage for the Reeves Center, which is accessible from U Street between 15th and 14th. I don't remember how much it was, but it was an easy walk to the Lincoln Theater from there. Our show didn't go very late; we were out by 11. It was surprisingly easy and stress free, years ago we would go to U Street and drive around for parking forever. Metro wasn't really convenient for us and we don't really drink so Uber wasn't necessary.
If you're worried about safety/people after dark...the walk is about two blocks, past busy restaurants. Yeah there's a lot of people smoking weed but I didn't feel unsafe walking back to the garage (this was a Friday night). I've been in much more sketchy situations than that part of U Street. |
