| I'm fairly certain that the same poster previously posted the same thread but complaining about Asian parents. I removed that and essentially the same thread was posted but replacing "Asian" with "tiger". The thread was still basically an attack on Asian parents. There is no need for that. |
I’m asking specifically about one thread you removed this morning, not other threads “like that”. You can’t remove threads because they remind you of others. It didn’t mention Asians, didn’t use word “Asian”. It talks about tiger parents. Tiger parents are not just Asian. Is there a ban for “tiger parent” words in this forum? You should have some clear rules and not go by a feeling of what it reminds you of. |
| He does have rules: no racism, even when poorly disguised with euphemisms. |
Are you saying “tiger parent” is a racist term and posts using it will be removed? As far as I know it’s a parenting style, not a euphemism for Asian race. |
| OP, get a life! |
What do you mean I can't remove threads? I can remove a thread for any reason I damn well please and I damn well pleased to remove that one. |
|
So, just be clear say it: The admin of this forum removes posts that they don’t personally like.
There are no clear rules or standards. |
Then you need to educate yourself on the history of the term and the stereotype it perpetuates. And it doesn't matter who coined the phrase. |
Uh, pretty sure he just said that. No one is forcing you to post here. |
The admin is the owner. He created this site. He can do whatever he wants. He doesn’t like when people curse. I love cursing. I had to decide if I wanted to post or curse. This site is not a democracy. |
So if I post this exact post, but replace “tiger parent” with “overachiever parent”, you will not delete it? |
| What I don't is the double standard for sports & academics. |
You must be new here. Jeff has always removed anything he wants to for whatever reason. I don’t always agree with his decisions but I don’t run the website, so… |
| Thank you, Jeff, for looking out for anti-Asian racism. It’s seems to be such a casual thing on DCUM and I appreciate your awareness. |
