School refusal - private school options in MC?

Anonymous
My DC is refusing school due to depression and social anxiety. I’m looking for some private high school options in the Montgomery County area, that can support a teen with this diagnosis. DC is also getting medical treatment. Thanks.

Fusion for private. ESESES for public

Are you looking for in person? Don’t know privates but agree with ESESES for public. That was effective for my kid.

I don't know much about it but Nora has been recommended before with kids and this profile. Good luck.

Thanks, OP here. I prefer in-person options. What does ESESES stand for? Thanks again.

In addition to Nora, Parkmont? In DC but may be worth the commute.

Enhanced Social and Emotional Special Education Services.

I’ve posted about the program before so if you do a search using the term ESESES, you can find information about the program.

My kid with this diagnosis (exact) has really thrived at Fusion. Highly recommend. They helped my kid ease back in and rebuild confidence. Now kid is excellent student and college bound.

It’s a MCPS program. The process to get in is that your child needs an IEP and the team has to decide that it is the right placement. Then you go through the central IEP process. There is no application process per se.

Thank you, I didn’t realize the program is for students with an IEP. I appreciate it!

It’s OP again, I’d love to connect by email and learn more about your journey, especially since you have been dealing with the same diagnosis. If, not, no worries, we’re all busy (and tired!)

I have one with generalized anxiety + ADHD that led to school refusal. Fusion Rockville has been wonderful.

My kid with autism, anxiety, and work refusal (not school refusal) is doing great at Nora.
