Intruder at home of Jake Sullivan bypassed Secret Service agents

Anonymous
The US Secret Service was investigating after an apparently intoxicated and confused man walked past agents and into the Washington home of Joe Biden’s national security adviser.

Jake Sullivan confronted the man and told him to leave, the Washington Post first reported, of an incident that happened at about 3am one night in late April. There were no signs of forced entry.

The Post said: “Sullivan has a round-the-clock Secret Service detail. But agents stationed outside the house were unaware that an intruder had gotten inside … until the man had already left and Sullivan came outside to alert the agents.”

What a joke. If this guy had wanted to kill Sullivan he would be dead. The secret service would have no suspects because the guy walked in and out of the front door of the house and no agents had a clue.

I was thinking maybe the SS just thought the guy was an another drunk agent and did not stop the guy. Nope they did not even know he was there till Sullivan told after the fact. What a disgrace of service.

Party on guys, party on.

This has happened before at the White House, with people jumping the fence and sometimes getting into the building.

Leonnig tells of agents taking selfies with Donald Trump’s sleeping grandson. Trump asked their supervisor, “These guys weren’t being pervs, right?”

Remember when the secret service used to be viewed as competent?

Not a conspiracy guy generally but I have questions here

- doors left unlocked? All the time or… just this once?

- no alarm system?

- Jake hears bump in the night, and instead of calling his protective detail right outside, he just wings it

- when he discovers it’s an intruder he has…. no panic button? No nothing? No way to communicate with detail?

Doesn’t add up for me

That’s crazy.

What does it add up to?

You read too many spy novels.

Protective detail? Panic buttons?

This made me howl with laughter. Decades ago, SS agents on the street totally missed a break-in right next door (very, very close!) to VIP they were guarding. They were roasted by the neighborhood for years afterwards!

Yes it has to be his fault. So the spin begins. Anything to cover the incompetence of the maga agents. I bet the secret services agents were doing crack with prostitutes and fell asleep. Or maybe they were too busy taking picture with sleeping underage boys?

Makes me think the Secret Service are all in on Trump...first Pelosi's husband and now this. A bunch got in trouble a few years ago on a bender somewhere in the sun.

Protective detail means secret service

Who were outside supposedly protecting him

If you were them would you not set up some way for the person you’re protecting to contact you if they needed you?

Not that complex

The secret service are not supposed to provide police/ protection services to anyone besides their protectee. This makes sense if you think about it- otherwise criminals could break into houses next door in order to distract them away from the VIP

It apparently is a common thing that when VIPs have Secret Service or other on-site security, they don’t arm their home security systems because the agents would be setting it off all the time.

I know that. But situational awareness is central to the job and those guys were very clearly not up to that, given the incident’s proximity to the protectee.
