May budget goals - open to all

In the book forum there is a monthly book post open to all. I am trying to start a similar thread here with budget goals

Feel free to share whatever you want and hopefully we can support each other.

This is my first month of YNAB (referred by DCUM) and I’m still working on figuring out where all of my money is going but I guess it is good to know all of this stuff.

I showed DH the budget this morning, and we agreed to cancel a monthly coffee subscription and I told him I was going to cancel our wine club subscription after we get our next shipment next month.

We can realistically get both cheaper at the grocery store.

One of us! One of us!

I’m a huge YNAB fan - let me know if you have any questions as you’re getting started!

We don't budget.. Not changing that in May.

We are halfway through a kitchen renovation. My goal is to finish within 10% of the original budget.

We actually set aside / locked in a HELOC for budget + 25%, so we have some margin, but I'd really like to finish within 10%. So far we've committed 3% over due to unexpected issues (remodeling a 70 year old house) or material selections over the allowances. I know the finishes are where we can go crazy if we don't force ourselves to stay reasonable, so trying to resist the urge to splurge on every nice lighting fixture or backsplash fanciness.
