I have a 7th grader and we are considering high schools. We know of the Einstein VAC program and will apply. It seems very competitive so if she does not get in would still like to purse art. Of the Downtown Consortium schools is there anyone that has a good selection of visual art electives or are they all equally the same? Wondering if going to Einstein gives access to additional art classes even if not in VAC? Welcome any suggestions on how to figure this out.

Yes, Einstein has the arts focus within the DCC and additional arts opportunities even outside VAC.
|
| You should also look into Einstein's VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts Academy). It is open to all Einstein students, there is no audition or application. Einstein has strong arts programs all around, even for students not part of the VAC, which is a very small cohort. |
All the DCC schools have different “Academy” pathways for kids to choose from, and Einstein’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy (VAPA) does overlap somewhat with the VAC. The school as a whole is a creative environment full of art, music, dance, and drama, supported by an active parent arts booster group. Take a look at the Einstein website to get a sense of the VAPA pathway. It’s less intense than the VAC, but it opens them up to some cool electives. |
| There are also visual arts pathways available through the academy programs at Northwood and Blair. |
