| I think my 12 year old son could benefit from OT. He had an OT evaluation at age 8 with MCPS and did not qualify for services. We did a very short run of sessions before the pandemic hit but it was mostly focused on building muscle and gross motor. He has both adhd and asd and is fully mainstreamed in school with a 504. He does well overall and is happy but at almost 13, I see him still struggling with shoe tying, cutting food and his handwriting is significantly larger than it should be. Wondering if we are too late to start OT at this age and if not, where people recommend in MoCo. Thanks! |

| It's never too late to start. It's also good to do things at home between therapies to help with it, too. |

Sorry I don't know anywhere to recommend, but it is not too late to start OT.
Also, for the gross motor stuff I found ninja gym to be incredibly helpful if you have any of those programs near you. I would just check and make sure whatever class is ok for "beginners" since other kids his age may have more advanced skills (my son kind of aged out of ours over the pandemic because all the kids his age now do competitions). |
| OT is for people of all ages! my 12 year old has been in OT since toddlerhood due to a chromosomal abnormality causing low muscle tone. we currently go to Fitness for Health across from the old White Flint Mall on Rockville Pike and love it! |
