How did you do it? How do you keep it?
I started 14-hour intermittent fasting, but it's too soon to see results. |
Current age?
Male or female? |
I did it by making small, slow changes. First thing I did, was cardio exercise for 20 mins, 3x a week. I made no dietary changes in the beginning, and I did not weigh myself. I was going through a rough time, and used the exercise primarily to release my frustration and anger, and NOT as βexerciseβ or to lose weight. As I got stronger, I upped my time and intensity - still to relieve stress, and not necessarily to burn calories. It was just me, my loud music, and the machine. After a while, I started making smaller dietary changes because I realized that if I ate too much, getting my stress/exercise/therapy out would be difficult, so I tried to eat less. Didnβt cut out anything at all, didnβt do any diets, I just made some small changes - like eating out no more than 1x a week. Bulking up meals with more vegetables. Slowly, I realized my clothes were getting more loose. I didnβt weigh myself once for 9 months, and by then I was down about 45lbs. It took me over a year to ultimately lose about 55-60lbs. Iβve maintained it by really just doing the same thing. I exercise more (5-6 days a week). I eat dessert every day, but also eat plenty of vegetables. I restrict nothing, just try to eat a bit less. I have setbacks like everyone, but I refuse to give up entirely - and always get back up. |
Mid 40's female now. I was fat/overweight/obese since early childhood. |
How many people have you met in person who maintained this much weight loss as long as you have? |
How did you gain it and how long were you 50+ lbs overweight? |
Do you drink alcohol? How much and what kind? |
How do you manage food chatter/hunger? |
Honestly, probably zero. But it might also because at this point, 10 years is a long time. Through moves and live changes, I just may have not known some people that long. I know a few people who've had weight struggles, and "lost the weight" but regained it within a few years. |
I'm a social drinker. I'd much, much rather eat a cupcake than have a drink! I eat something junky every day. But I drink maybe 1-2x a month, and not more than one drink. Maybe more on vacation, but I'd still rather have chocolate! |
I was just always chunky, even as a young kid. My parents were pretty healthy and strict, and I think that let to some bad overeating habits. I don't believe restriction or "banned" foods is healthy for kids, or for adults. |
I'm a late-day eater/snacker. Because I work out of the house, it's easy for me to control food intake during the day. Once I get home, I honestly eat about 80% of my calories. It works for me. I guess it's almost a form of intermittent fasting? |
It honestly sounds like a form of binge eating that you manage harm reduction for. |
I am in the slow process of losing weight- down from 255 to 240 - and I want to know when you stop thinking about food all the time? I hate that when I wasnβt trying to lose weight I never thought about it, but now I think about food at all times. |
