| Does anyone know what percentage of children who come into the Pre-Primary program at Lowell transfer out before 8th grade? What are the most common reasons for leaving? Where do these students tend to go (e.g., public, private, K-12, etc.)? And what grades are likeliest to see departures (e.g., K, 4, 7, etc.)? |
| It is common. I'm a lefty liberal and the school goes too far. It is ridiculous. |
|
It is not very common, but of course kids leave for a wide variety of reasons (family moves, wanting to get kids in a K-12, wanting all girls or boys school, needing additional educational services etc). We also have had lots of kids join our class - in 3rd, 5th, 6th especially. The majority of our class has been there for 5+ years, with a large number there since PK or K. And we have had kids leave for moves/jobs, and then come back.
What is the reason for your question? |
| Not sure of Lowell but it's twin school Sheridan (k-8) has kids leaving early. 8th grade = 19 kids. |
| OP here. Just wanted to know how consistent the class composition is as a child progresses through the grades. |
| Which private schools are most often seen as comps for Lowell? |
Why so defensive? Lowell is a joke and people are leaving left and right. No one leaves and comes back. How delusional. |
| I’ve heard that some may apply out to the schools that are 6-12, because it can be less competitive getting in as a middle schooler than as a freshman. If they don’t get accepted as a middle schooler, they can keep trying for a couple subsequent years. |
Isn’t this the class that has an issue with bullying? I’m sure there are other reasons for leaving, but I’ve heard there are issues with this particular mix of kids, most of whom who have been together for 6-7 years already. |
| We were at Lowell and left, the year we left it was a mass exodus. Most left due to the gaslighting that occurred particularly in 1-3 grades as teachers refused to come back in person and the school failed to even acknowledge the issues students faced as a result. There were long-time faculty and heads of divisions who also left creating a major void in quality educators as well. The acting head of the preschool division was the aftercare coordinator who had no actual teaching experience. The communication within the school was abysmal with multiple day school closures being announced Sunday nights at 8pm when it was known by administrators school would be closed much earlier in advance. |
You’ll really go there? Really? |
Well it needs to be discussed! |
Varies by year, but, yes, some do leave. Current sixth grade has 31 kids, so it varies. |
Can you elaborate? |
I am not the PP but there is no room or desire for debate or seeing a different side of an issue. You either agree or are an outcast, even if what you point out as a dissent is reasonable and non-combative so to speak. |
