| I was at Claire and don’s tonight seated in the tent. It was very crowed and there was a table of maybe 3-4 couples with their kids who were I’d guess all under 8. Maybe 6-8 kids. The adults were drinking (as was I with my kids) and watching the band, and their kids were crawling among the chairs of the tables like rats. Like using the pathways between the tables as pathways. Getting in the way of servers with trays of drinks and knocking into people trying to eat dinner. There were tons of other kids in the place. I have never seen children so poorly behaved and the parents did absolutely nothing to even discourage them. I was so embarrassed for these parents. Would you have said something to the parents? Management? |
| It's on the management to say something to the parents about creating an unsafe situation where the waitstaff might drop heavy and hot foods on kids. |
| No, Don’t you remember being a kid once? |
Yes, and we would have left the restaurant if we acted like that. |
+1 |
| In some restaurants I’d be appalled but Claire and Dons? Really? I mean it’s super casual and outside and there’s loud music and who cares. |
There is a big iron area and a wall where they can climb and play. Knocking people’s purses over and getting under the feet of servers for an hour is not ok. |
Dont be embarrassed for the parents who didn't watch their children. Just be glad you got out of there with no incident for your group caused by tripping, falling by the kids. And be glad the waitstaff didn't spill drinks or food on your group. Just like kids and weddings no one can say anything. Same on planes as we unfortunately discovered - lap baby standing on my tray and in my foot zone etc. |
What? No, OP could have politely but firmly said something. Just like on the plane you could have nicely said something about the lap baby on your tray. |
I did and the attendants said it was to be expected on flights to that destination. Orlando. |
| We know you don’t actually care about having a nice dining experience, as you were at Clare and Don’s. Are you 23 and is this 2007? |
| OP I’m kind of interested in what you think your intervention would have accomplished. |
This is extremely dangerous for customers and wait staff to have to step over your children crawling around the floor. I am a waitress and I hate parents who let this happen. While serving a table I had a kid take my knee out from behind while playing a game and that 100+ pound tray of plates and food went everywhere. Thankfully no one was hurt but to have the parent come up to me afterwards and tell me I needed to go apologize to there kid for the way I looked at him afterwards took the cake. I told her she's lucky I didn't use my words and teach him some new vocabulary. Today's parents suck! |

wow. I think that if the management didn’t do anything about it they must have had a reason for that. If so many kids were there and acting like they might figure they will lose business for making a fuss about it.
In your shoes I’d leave a three or four star yelp review just letting people know this place is for parents who want to be able to have a fun night out without having to get a babysitter or pay much attention to their kids. |
Why did the management allow their servers to be in this environment? That seems like terrible treatment on their part too. |
