12 year old smoking weed?

Anonymous
I follow a friend of my daughter's on Instagram and she is always posting videos of her smoking weed. How should this be handled?

CPS should be called and provide these pictures. The Washington Post has an excellent section on pot and youngsters today. You can report anonymously. You need the kid’s name, address, age, and name of the parent, and school, if you have them. You don’t need all of that, but they will ask. Please call today. This is not okay at all.

Why directly to CPS and not the parents? I'd reach out to them. Lots of things could happen from there, but I think my conscience would want me to at least let them know.

I'd rather receive a call from a parent than CPS.

Mom is a big pot smoker as well so that is my concern with that.

Then there's not much to be done. You can try CPS, but I highly doubt anything will come of it.

Are you sure about this, OP? What about the dad?

Do you know this child at all?

Agree that this is alarming, and I would want to do something to help her too. Can school counselor be brought into conversation?

?

The 12 yo is smoking pot? The mom is smoking? They smoke together?

What would you do if we’re beer?
Anonymous
I would advise your daughter about being friends with said girl.

If the mom is a pothead and you feel obligated, you can anonymously report the situation to CPS like another poster said, but it sounds like mom is on board with this lifestyle. So going to her wouldn't accomplish much.

Call CPS you can do it anonymously.

I would contact the school guidance counselor. This is a kid who needs help from a responsible adult.
