Bathroom/kitchen floor grout
Shower curtain |
|
Is the shower curtain fabric or plastic? Is it discolored or just dirty?
For the grout, what is the tile made of? |
|
Shower curtain is polyester/polyethelene (one side is more slippery). It gets pink mold especially at the hem at the bottom. I've tried throwing it in the washing machine and scrubbing with a toothbrush, but it never quite comes clean.
I think the tile is vinyl. |

Spot test the shower curtain for bleach. If you can bleach it, that will be the easiest way to get rid of the pink.
If you can, run it through the washer with some old towels and bleach. If you can’t, do the same thing but with oxiclean. The towels will help “scrub” off the soap residue. |
| The tile is probably not vinyl, if there is grout. It’s likely either ceramic or stone. Can you tell? What color is it? |
| The tile is not stone. It could be ceramic and seems manmade. The tile is beige but the grout originally is probably lighter like beige but is brown where dirty. |
|
The only way to get grout clean is to scrub it with a grout brush.
Buy fabric shower curtain liners. They're easier to wash/bleach. |
| Grout spread baking soda evenly on grout and spray with vinegar or pour vinegar on baking soda. Scrub with grout brush. Rinse with little bit of water after wiping up. |
Don’t do this, baking soda and vinegar don’t do anything but fizz in an exciting way and neutralize each other. |
