Sunscreen that won’t break me out

Anonymous
I’ve tried many things that have been recommended here (super goop, EltaMD, etc.) but haven’t found the right fit. I prefer mineral but since that might be what’s breaking me out, totally willing to try the other kind too. Any recommendations from people with acne-prone skin?

yes, I went through this - tried every "it's so light, you don't feel it, no pimples!" recommendation on the internet and they either give me pimples, or at minimum, make my oily skin feel like I've rubbed margarine into it.

I did some research online, and apparently the US is way behind Europe and Asia in its approval of sunscreen ingredients - and those markets have much better technologies for making non-sticky spfs. I tried a couple and like them both VERY much. Both feel literally like nothing on my skin. The two I tried (after reading a bunch of reviews) were Japanese ones from global brands (copied from my email order):

Shiseido Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Skincare Milk N SPF50+
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+

I ordered from a site called Japanese Taste.

I'm very acne prone and have tried a ton. Recently introduced this one and it does not seem to be breaking me out: https://www.paulaschoice.com/resist-youth-extending-daily-hydrating-fluid-spf-50/780.html

I’ve been hearing a lot about Biore Watery Essence lately. Time to add it to my list. I recently finished up supergoop unseen sunscreen and will not repurchase. It made my eyes sting and water. I’m trying LRP right now but it’s so expensive I want to find something more reasonable. The sunscreen quest is a long one.

I am dry, sensitive, and acne prone.

This is what I use for everyday:

For days I know I will be outside, I use CeraVe hydrating mineral sunscreen SPF 50.

Forgot to mention, I absolutely need to two-step cleanse on days I use the CeraVe or else I will break out.

I like Juice Beauty for mineral sunscreen.

If I’m going to be outside, sweating, etc. I’ll just use something like Neutrogena facial sunscreen stick with SPF 70, which is sweat resistant.

I also liked how the Shiseido clear facial stick glides on and stays on, doesn’t sting eyes, etc. But it was a bit drying on my skin, maybe because I use tretinoin.

I've used the Biore for years. It's fantastic.

On Reddit, there's a lot of discussion about the formula changing recently - any thoughts?

I use Ombrelle Mineral for sensitive skin. I pick it up when I'm in Canada, but I don't know if it is carried here.

the tinted one is great as well, but like with anything on the skin, make sure you properly wash at night time.
