Dinner at Columbia Country Club

Anonymous
I was invited to dinner at Columbia Country Club by a colleague. I’ve never been inside a country club in my life and have a couple questions.

I was told not to wear jeans and sneakers (we have a casual work environment so this is my daily uniform). My plan is to wear a dress with wedges but I’d almost rather wear nice pants and a blouse and flats. I’m not sure if there are different dining rooms at the club but my assumption is we are eating in the most formal dining area. Any advice about how to dress would be much appreciated (I’m 39 years old if that’s relevant).

What type of food do they serve? I have some very limiting allergies (dairy, eggs and gluten) but I don’t like making a big deal about it. Usually when I can’t take a look at the menu in advance I’ll have a small meal at home before I go and just have a salad as an entree.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I think you will be fine wearing a dress or pants and a blouse. As far as the menu, you may be able to view it online by going to the club's website. If you are normally able to find something to order at a restaurant, you should be fine. We belong to a different club but I can always order a salad with protein on top, or fish with a vegetable and roasted potatoes, etc.
