I have a very complex set of problems with my shoulder girdle. I’m being seen at Hopkins. My doctor told me that muscles all over the body can be shortened and lengthened. Sometimes that’s a very bad thing, but it absolutely happens. |
Yes, it’s an adaptation issue. The muscle isn’t actually shortened or lengthened as much as its tolerance to each position changes based on your movement patterns.
I deal with this as an endurance athlete and work quite a bit on strength training to avoid certain shortening adaptations. Especially on my bike. |
Don't we already know this? People do yoga to lengthen muscles that have become shortened. |
