Summer pools without waitlists that have NVSL swim teams looking for members

Anonymous
If your summer pool is looking for swimmers, I have had inquiries from a number of club swimmers looking for a summer team, I can't be the only one.

Pool Name:

Pool Locations:

Swim Team Size:

NVSL Division:

If not able to take swimmers this summer --

Pool Name and why. (so people will not waste time)

Vienna Aquatic Club is not taking any more swimmers this year because summer leases have been filled. We tried to get a lease there and were told they filled all of their leases.

OP, the time to look for pools is in March, not a week before they open. That said, you can usually find openings at places like Sleepy Hollow, Graham Road, etc.

If you read the OP you would know they aren’t looking for a pool, they have been contacted by people looking to join a pool. It appears OP is starting a thread to collect information on pools that are still looking for swimmers in case it’s helpful for people still looking.

you need to identify a geographic area- I seriously doubt that someone who lives in arlington is going to be trekking out to edsall park in springfield to join a division 17 nvsl swim team. That being said, in general, the pools in springfield have space- there is a glut of pools in that area- and the pools in arlington/ close in falls church/ mclean- do not.
there are a couple of closer in exceptions- I think McLean Swim and Tennis still has memberships available.

If you're in the Mt Vernon area, Hollin Hills usually has openings

I don't know all the details of team size because I just joined myself but Forest Hollow in Annandale, Division 12 does not have a waitlist for membership and you can still sign up for swim team, just did so for my son last week. Based on photos from last year looks like a good size team.

Old Keene Mill in Burke doesn't have a waitlist and they're Division 2.

Sleepy hollow bath and Raquet and shra both have a wait list now. I've been the sleepy holly bath and Raquet wait list since probably last fall and it looks like we will get a spot next summer most likely so much shorter lists than most in the area but not for this summer.

Second the earlier post about geographic area. Almost all the Burke/Fairfax/Springfield area pools have membership openings and are taking new NVSL swimmers. Lakeview/Commonwealth/Kingsridge in Kings Park West in Fairfax; Longbranch, Ilda, Truro, Burke Station. But if you're looking in Vienna/McLean, many of those pools have waitlists and the list will be much smaller.

If you have swimmers looking in the Reston/Herndon area, I think someone posted about Fox Mill Woods having openings. I have also heard that Herndon Hammerheads is looking for more swimmers.

This is laziness. Just Google pools around your house, look them up in NVSL website (for division placement), and start emailing/calling the pool's swim team reps.

If you can't even do that, how are you going to volunteer for your team?

I would look at Highland Park in Alexandria which will be Division 11 this year. Swim team was maybe 70 kids last year. Our website says there is a waitlist until 2024, but I think there has been movement. I know several families whose kids have aged out and cancelled. It is a nice community.

I actually quite like this thread. People helping people. Makes it way easier to find a vacancy for a team. Why do you care if other people are perfectly happy to post what they know?
