Buying new car — now or in 1 year

Anonymous
We will have new driver in 7 months and expect we’ll want a third card in a year or so.

With inflation etc, should we think about buying car now rather than waiting?

We are looking at a Honda Civic, or similar.

I'd wait. The car market prices haven't adjusted to economic reality yet.

Yes, wait. The prices are already up.. if they don't decrease, atleast they won't rise at the same pace as before. A lot can change in a year

I would wait. I was also in the market for a similar second car and the premium on such a car is still very substantial. Wait a year if you can.

Supposedly the economy is expected to grow by 0.4% (or some such) this year but has already clocked 1.1% first quarter. Some analysts are expecting the rest of the year to be negative growth. Car prices are also a big component of inflation and there are reports of people not being able to pay their monthlies on cars and repos are increasing.

All this to say that by the end of the year, there will be deals. Wait until December.
