Aftercare - recent experiences with CLS / CLS

Anonymous
Can anyone share their recent experience with CLS as an aftercare provider (aside from language classes)? Deciding between that and a not great option.

My kids are in CLS after school. I would say it’s fine, so definitely better than a “not great” option. My kids are safe and play with their friends until I can pick them up. I don’t think they watch tv/screens. There’s occasionally been some disciplinary stuff I don’t love (sitting out of recess) and some turnover in instructors but overall it’s been fine for my kids.

My first grader loves it and we haven't had any issues that are big enough to be concerning to us. It's good enough. My child is safe and has fun playing with friends. If your choice is "not great" and CLS, I would choose CLS in a heartbeat.

What school? I've got two enrolled at CLS at Murch. Both my kids enjoy it, they are adding new activities for the upcoming school year like dance and art, which is a nice option. I did hear at Lafayette last year they fogot a kid on the playground....

Is there any way to make CLS better? It's really...not amazing.

After care is the Wild West of childcare. Proceed at your child's risk.

Really depends on the program--the biggest provider of aftercare in DCPS is OSTP and that's fairly stable/consistent. And free.
