My 28 lb mini golden doodle possibly ate some onion. I found the peel on the carpet so she left that. I heard crunching but didn't investigate. (So upset). Clearly she left the peel so maybe didn't like it. I doubt she had more than 1/4 of one or half (half unlikely)
I was cooking and used most of the two onions out. Sounds like she should be fine, but anything I should look out for or call vet in the morning? I'm so stressed. And usually so beyond careful!!! |
| All the websites say that onions are a problem. Friendship vet (24 hours) has told us on the phone whether we need to come in for things--and is credible. I would call them. |

Call pet poison control. It's a $75 phone consult but they will tell you based on the weight of your dog whether it's a worrisome amount or not, and what symptoms to look for.

| Keep us posted, OP. I've heard onions are very bad. |
| My yorkie ate onions and he was fine!!!! He will be 18 soon so no harm no foul. |

Toxic dose is:
5 grams of onion per kg of body weight. Assuming 1 ounce of onion consumed for a 28 lbs dog, you are BELOW the toxic dose. But keep watch for symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, reddish urine, rapid heartbeat and lethargy and trouble breathing. |
