Anyone have this choice for state senate? Have you made a decision? Who is the more moderate choice?
I considered myself a D from 1999-2022 and now consider myself an independent but I do feel in this area I might as well continue to weigh on which D I prefer. Except that I am making you do my research for me

| Ayala is more moderate than Foy but both have been very moderate Dems, especially when they were first elected in 2017. Foy is pretending she is further left but she was, I think, a prosecutor at one point. |
| Foy. |
| thank you!! |
| Hala all the way. She is a very pragmatic Dem, who definitely supports the Dem platform but is also not afraid to support sensible bipartisan efforts to improve VA. Foy quit the House to run for governor, potentially leaving a seat vulnerable to a Repub takeover. It worked out fine, as another Dem was elected, but it wasn’t a sure thing and it was a crappy thing for Foy to do. You stay in the position you were elected to, even if you’re seeking higher office. |
I don't like the way Carrol Foy left, but I'm very angry with Ayala. I don't agree with your assessment at all. Ayala will simply tow the Democratic party line, that's why the establishment Dems rallied behind her to run for LG because they wanted someone who would be quiet. I didn't support Carrol Foy for governor but I support her in this race. |
| Two very mediocre candidates who compete entirely on the basis of identity politics. Hard pass. |
OP here. I did think it was interesting to see that the local Dems endorse Foy and the state establishment Dems endorse Ayala. I wonder what is up with that split. I’m trying not to be elitist but I am having a hard time with Ayala only having an associates degree - and I had the same problem when she ran for Lt Gov. |

Foy has a far better resume insofar as education and experience. I saw Ayala’s work performance at DHS and while “acceptable” it wasn’t compelling. She had a reputation for being difficult to work with.
|
| Foy says that protecting the environment is one of the most important things we can do for the future of our children. If that’s the case, why has her campaign sent me at least 10 of her flyers? So wasteful. |
What? Would you rather a senator who doesn’t engage with her potential constituents at all?? This is a ton of nonsense. Most Dem campaigns in Virginia (including Foy’s 2021 gov campaign) use recycled material for printing and make their products in Virginia. Every year there are people who complain about getting too much mail, and the truth is that they were just never going to support that candidate to begin with. If you don’t support JCF that’s fine, but don’t make an issue out of her trying to get people to vote and doing the exact same thing every other candidate (including Ayala! I’ve gotten so much mail from her) does. |
