| We have a wedding to attend in Boston in a few weeks. We are flying up on a Friday morning and home on a Monday afternoon (Memorial Day weekend) wedding events Friday night, Saturday night, actual wedding Sunday night, brunch Monday. Other than that we have free time. We were briefly in Boston when our kids were younger and did the Duck tour and Fanuel Hall but that was basically it. What should we try to do? They are teens now. I should add the wedding and our hotel are about 30-40 minutes outside the city but we will have a car. TIA! |
| A sox game! |

Walk the freedom trail. Have dinner in North end with dessert at Modern. Shop/walk Charles Street in beacon hill and Newbury street in back Bay. Drinks at Oak Long Bar at Fairmont Copley followed by dinner at Contessa. The public garden and Comm Ave mall. Visit eataly in the Pru and Jonquils Cafe. Drinks and/or dinner at Yvonnes. Lunch at Sam Lagrassas (weekdays only). Coffee at Ogawa and George Howell. Boston public market. Walk the Harborwalk on the waterfront + Christopher Columbus park. Drinks at Outlook at the Envoy in Seaport. Walk the Greenway. Visit the seals outside the aquarium. Breakfast at Flour. Do a Fenway park tour. Get on a boat in the harbor to see the skyline, or take a water taxi over to East Boston (Reelhouse) or Charlestown (USS Constitution and Pier 6). Enjoy. |
| I know everyone will say the Freedom Trail, but it really depends on the weather. My teens were miserable doing the FT tour when it was super hot and we had a boring tour guide. |
Wow! Thank you so much! - OP |
| It might be cheaper to take the subway into the city vs drive and paaark. |

If you’ve got time maybe take a ferry to Provincetown for lunch and back. You may see whales on the way.
MFA is great and the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum is very interesting, especially if you watch the Netflix series about the heist. The contemporary art museum in the Seaport is worth a visit. You can walk around or tour some of the college campuses. |
Be aware that Modern and Mikes are cash only. I went recently and we realized we were short on cash and had to limit what we ordered. |
| I love the PP's tour above. I was going to suggest walking Charles Street, detouring up to Beacon Hill, and taking the swan boat ride. |
|
Love the PP's ideas but please do Bova or Maria's for sweets in the N End. Way lower-key.
Also Cambridge (Harvard Museums etc) could be fun, with a nice lunch at Cafe Sushi! |
