I won't go into all the reasons but DC- who had been a high-stats, high-achieving high school student had an awful freshman year. There is a lot going on mental health wise that we thought was under control but obviously is not. They likely need to take some time off but we are not sure what the best option is during that time (being at home would be detrimental for self-esteem and for some other reasons).
Has anyone had DIRECT experience with a gap year-type program that takes kids after starting college and that has some "therapeutic" components? Ideally, focus on building resilience/confidence and dealing with anxiety and/or executive funcitioning...but not a "Wilderness" program
