4 year old has been home sick past two days and I still need to work. Major Mom guilt is setting in for letting him watch tv all day. Do other folks let their kids do this?
I mean, they do. The issue is that my 4yr old would never have sat all day. Theyd want to play even if they were sick

Yes, if they're too sick to want to play I let them watch TV for hours. Not all day but half the day.
Yes. I try to get a little break in there here or there if I can just because sometimes my kid will become a little crazy if it goes on truly to long but generally yes. Don't worry about it!

Yes
When you are feeling crummy and can't sleep sometimes zoning out in front of the TV is actually an okay way to rest. You don't want to push them to be too active when they just need to recover. Now if they are actually feeling fine but have to isolate due to COVID that is harder. Sometimes you just have to do what you gotta do. |
Yup.
More or less. I’m a SAHM so I don’t have to for work, but if they’re slugs from being sick we definitely snuggle and watch movies. I try to balance that with walks outside or just hanging in the yard when they’re feeling up for it.
Yes.
I would allow it for a 4 year old. For my older kids I say they can rest or read if they’re sick. They started to enjoy the screen time and wanted to stay home all of the time.
Yup. And besides sick and on a plane (and about a half hour once a month when we're desperate), we're screen free.
Yes. Of course! What do you want a sick child to do? |
Do not feel guilty or give this another thought. It’s totally fine.
Yup. Usually when they are sick they are not only physically ill but out of it and are really not able to enjoy playing like usual
