Comfortable sofa bed?

We are transforming our guest bedroom into a guest bedroom/playroom now that baby #2 is coming. The current playroom will become the baby's room, and the guest room will be mostly a playroom. We rarely have guests, other than my mom who visits every 3-4 months for a week or so, and my ILs who are divorced come individually maybe once a year. Additionally, we may have friends here or there who will spend a night or two, but again, very rare.

I'm looking for a small, yet full/queen size like sofa bed that would make it so there's still plenty of space in the room for the toddler and baby's toys, and a play area, but is also comfortable enough for my mom/ILs who are 60+.

Do they like firm mattresses? We have the IKEA beddinge futon with a foldable spring mattress and it is the most comfortable bed in the house. But we like firm mattresses though... I think they have a couple other mattress options as well.

It's very easy to put up & down and we did the storage containers underneath to store the bedding.

We love our ikea futon as well. Just make sure you get the good mattress with the springs. I've heard American Leather is the best, but we couldn't justify the thousands of dollars for not so frequent guests. http://www.healthyback.com/products/american-leather/the-comfort-sleeper-sofa-by-american-leather/705

Had a Jennifer's convertable sofa years ago that had a surpringly comfortable bed. Also back in college had a futon that I kept through grad school and I slept on it myself all those years...soooo comfortable. Just get the high quality mattress as mentioned. Have slept on an ikea sofa bed during visit to in-laws that was comfy too.
