Recommendations for private driving lessons in VA for young adult with permit

Anonymous

Seeking your recommendations for a school or individual instructor who gives one on one driving lessons (and no need to recommend "I Drive Smart," the ones who use former cops -- I've tried with them, no schedule they have works for us).

DD, 20, has a permit and but due to college, other commitments, doesn't have a license yet and we're wanting to find someone we might be able to hire every day for a week or two to give her individual lessons. She does very well driving with us when home on breaks, but needs a professional to polish things up and give her instructions we as parents surely haven't thought of. Expensive is OK. Thanks in advance.

Bumping this. Anyone? Anyone know an individual instructor, as in, not with a driving school? Or at least know which schools to avoid? Hard to tell from glossy websites and gushing reviews (or horrible reviews) which really are decent or terrible driving schools. Thanks in advance.

We finished with Horizon. It was $350 and my daughter got her license as soon as she finished her 7th session. The instructor was accommodating and so she was able to schedule all 7 sessions in about 2-3 weeks. They also pick you up from your home and drop you off. There wasn't a lot of instruction - since kids under 18 have to have 45 hours of instruction with their parents before doing Behind the Wheel. It was mainly observational.

Can you describe the experience? Their online reviews range from wildly positive to extremely negative and frankly I'm suspicious of that wide a range, especially since some of the very positive reviews sound stilted and odd, as if ghostwritten. Thank you.

This is helpful detail -- thank you, PP!
