Has anyone done respite care?

| Am a single mom by adoption - with one 8 year old. I am not able to adopt again, but my heart is still with these kids. Considering signing up to do respite care for foster kids. Like if a family needs a day off, we could take the kid. Would only take on kids younger than my own. If anyone has done this, would like to hear your stories, experience, or advice. |

| I have thought about it but decided against it while my kids are at home. Even though the likelihood of something happening is low (fighting or whatever) I would feel really bad if something happened to my kid. Will reconsider when the kids leave for college |
