Best option for at-home iced Americano

Anonymous
Very niche question, but I've developed a serious relationship with Starbucks iced americanos. (Judge away, it's right down the road from me I am not a coffee snob by any means and I don't want to drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on a high-end espresso machine, but every attempt I've made to make even a satisfying iced coffee at home has failed. I really need to stop spending $5/day on these stupid things - anyone have suggestions for machines/tools/etc to recreate at home?

Buy Moka pot and use Starbuck espresso coffee.

In Europe, they make this incredible iced coffee thing that I am obsessed with - it's pretty similar.

Add instant coffee Nescafe espresso to a martini shaker with ice, water, and a bit of sugar if you want it. Shake, then pour everything into a glass. Add milk if you want it.

I make super strong cold brew in one of those cold brew makers in the fridge. The beans I use are Bizzy brand cold brew beans.

Trader Joe’s cold brew concentrate over ice. Try it before you invest in any other equipment.

Yes - Chameleon has the best cold brew you can buy in the store! It’s the only one we’ve found sufficiently strong (usually DH and I make our own).

Can milk go in the shaker or should it be added after?

We do an overnight cold brew in the French press when the weather heats up. Out of course, prefers that we walk to Starbucks so she can get her puppaccino treat

Um, cold brew and all of these are coffee—a true iced Americano is distinctly espresso goodness.
But good on OP that they’re open minded.

I don’t even drink americanos but thought the same.

OP, i would buy a $99 nespresso mini (whatever it is called) and make a shots of espresso, dilute with water to perfect ratio you like (you can probably look up sbux ratio) and then refrigerate a pitcher of this and drink daily over ice.
