Wasn't sure if this started yet...
Trying to help my kid close this door...I wish FCPS would give us an update so the child could see for themselves how slim the chance is. |
I posted on a different group here. From DC's school, a couple of kids declined TJ last week and immediately a kid on waitlist got the offer and already accepted. The second slot did not go to any kids on the waitlist so probably it was an unallocated slot. I am not sure if FCPS would notify on the progress. I would presume as soon as the kid declines, the next one on waitlist (either from same school if allocated slot or possibly from different school/county if unallocated) would be notified immediately. |
To the OP.
This process is painful and best not to get hopes up for the child. Focus on the next steps at base school. Extinguish any hope the child has about TJ this year. If they get in, pleasant surprise. This is going to take a while as acceptances go out and some dont accept and more offers come in, etc. If child is a really standout student, apply sophomore year. |
I've been doing what PP suggested. My kid is a little bummed, but I've made it clear to him that the fact that he's in the wait pool means he's good enough to qualify...there are just too many qualified applicants. |
OP here yes, trying to extinguish all hope, but the child feels like they are top at the school and has a good chance if someone turns it down, so it is hard. |
Do they only inform on Friday? |
is waitlisted moving? |
