wow! all the new posts today are so impressive - is this out of the ordinary for the W schools? seems like a good group. |
I have no idea what this post is talking about or why it warrants a topic on this forum. |
Students can post whatever they want. It doesn’t mean they will actually go there in the fall. |
Let's leave these kids alone. Yes, I know it's a public page, but it's meant to be shared among themselves and not nosy parents. |
You're basing this assessment on the colleges the seniors on the Instagram page say they plan to attend? |
Check out RM's page if you really want to be impressed.
Good for all these kids - class of 2023 has some pretty strong college admits. Best of luck to the entire class! |
It would be really weird & embarrassing to kids to lie. |
Blair and RM seem to have the most extensive list of top schools but others do well too just not the same volume. |
Both schools would be similar to QO or Rockville High if they didn’t have the smartest kids from the county buses into these subpar schools. At least Whitman, Churchill, and Wootton can stand on their own without busing in smarter kids to pad the scores/acceptances. |
Yeah, they just use home values to keep the riff-raff out. |
The preachy posters who insist that only parents and students affiliated with the school should be looking at the page can go stuff it. It’s a public page, and the students are adults who are choosing to go public. The overwhelming majority of the parents and the overwhelming majority of the students don’t know each other personally and certainly don’t know each other any better than anyone else knows them. So just get over yourselves. |
Besides, we're DCUM. We claim the right to judge any and everyone, regardless. |
Not you again. These schools are part of the reason kids do so well. Kids in the W clusters tend to be very well prepared for every opportunity with extensive enrichment. They also have a greater chance of coming from connected families that can help them with additional opportunities. It's really not about being "smarter." Also, my DCC kid had several top admits in RD. And, lots of kids choose UMD to save money. So, let's just celebrate the kids without denigrating other kids. |
Schools post acceptances, not just where they end up. And no one is choosing UMD to save money except some middle class who didn't prepare. Others would get great academic scholarships, financial aid, or have the means to save. My daughter went to a 72K school for 25K a year. |
