Only 15% proficient or above in Maryland. What’s going on?

Does this mean that 85% are going to have to retake in order to graduate?

Post the link for the data you are looking at please.

If this is results from high school only, those are students that are not on grade level (Algebra in 8th is now on grade level across most of Maryland.)

Nobody knows. It's a new uncalibrated test. There has no "passing" score yet.

I don’t have a link, this is from my student’s MCAP algebra results which show that 14% were Level 3 and 1% Level 4. Level 3 is proficient and level 4 is distinguished. The MCPS average was slightly higher than the state average. These are the results for algebra 1, regardless of what grade it’s taken in. Other parents whose kids took algebra 1 last year will have the same info.

In that case why are results reported as beginning, developing, proficient and distinguished?! That have taken a year to release these results. They certainly have worked out what is a passing score and logically it will be scoring “proficient” or above which only 15 percent did in the entire state.
