My 4 year old- almost 5- didn’t get ESY in their IEP meeting this week. And now I’m freaking out a little about what we’re going to do over the summer. Is it too late to register for any summer programs? My child isn’t toilet trained, and all these places seem to require fully toilet trained kids. Where can I look?
My kiddo is autistic, verbal, reading, and doesn’t have significant behavior problems… |
| Verbal Beginnings offers an ABA-based summer program. |
| You should focus on toilet training this summer. |
| Where do you live? Mine loved Dolley Madison in McLean at that age. |
| Call the Kennedy Institute and see if they would accept your child for the summer: https://www.catholiccharitiesdc.org/childdevelopment/ |
This is a tough one OP - so many of the camps require or assume that the child is toilet trained. You may still have time to get them there but it might also make sense to avoid that stress/conflict if they just aren't ready and skip camp this year. Good luck! |
| People might be able to be more helpful if you give a geographical area. |
| Fairfax Parks and Rec has a special needs camp. |
