Rats ate my wiring

Anonymous
I thought this was an urban myth, but rats ate my car wiring.

Any tips to prevent this from happening again?

Park in a garage and take measures to control rodents in it.

it happened to me too, but I rarely drove my car (maybe once or twice a month). After it happened, I rented a spot in a garage. If that's not possible, maybe you could just drive your car more often---and not always park it in your spot, but on the street occasionally.

Keep your hood raised a few inches (put a block underneath).

- Southwest resident, we all do that here

Leave some rat poison under your hood.

What does leaving your hood open do?

And I drive a Chrysler Pacifica.

They crawl inside because it's warm and dry. Open hood = cold and uninviting

This does not happen with traditional plastic wiring, but with new soy-based wiring used by several manufacturers.

You apparently have the soy-based wiring.

Why not? They're just pellets. If they fall out when you're driving, just put some more under the hood at night.
