I need to get a pedicure but am pregnant and heard the nail fumes can be unhealthy for the unborn baby. I also just don't like the smell of the chemicals. Can anyone recommend a well-ventilated place to get a pedi in the Bethesda/Rockville/Gaithursburg area - or in NW DC?
Thank you, in advance, for any suggestions!!! |

I go to Studio 1 in Derwood. It's right at the Rockville/Gaithersburg line on Crabbs Branch. I don't notice any overwhelming chemical smells, there, but I don't think they do acrylic nails (at least not often) and that's what bugs me the most. It's not a seriously upscale place, but it's very clean and I've been happy just getting occasional pedicures there.
Wherever you go, try getting the first appointment of the morning. That will cut down on smells and fumes in general. http://www.studio1hairdesign.net/hair_design.html |
Nails by Sean on Rockville Pike in Congressional Plaza (the bottom part, around the back...). It's always packed on weekends so I would make an appointment first. The place is huge, clean and very well ventilated. I'm there almost every weekend

Face 2 Tippy Toes is a mobile service that comes to your home. Avoiding the smells and chemical fumes. I use her services most of the time and find it quite relaxing.
