I am free all day on Thursday and Friday. I get a meeting invite from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Why pick lunch to me when I am free all day. Anyhow I tell the people I am physically in office all day Thursday and Friday except I am meeting someone for lunch 1-2pm.
Guy goes he will do another time. I get a 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm invite. And this guy can talk the balls off a brass elephant. I was always thought book meetings 930 am to 11:30 am and 2-4pm first only do early, lunch or late if you have too. Jesus Christ I am going out to lunch once in the whole month. And guess what I don’t block lunch as most people are not as stupid |
| You are all wound up about nothing. Hasn't it occurred to you the OTHER person may not be free all day? Meetings can be at any time of the day, though it's frowned upon to have a meeting at 4:30 on a Friday. |
| Lucky you - you have a hard stop and the meeting will need to end on time. |
| You should have offered some alternate time slots you have free when you got the first invite. |
This. You're calling people stupid for scheduling a meeting during an open block on your calendar? Yikes, I feel bad for these people who have to work with you and don't know all your weird 1950s rules. You said it yourself - block it out on the calendar. If the person tries to keep talking past the end of the meeting time, say "I'm sorry, I have an appointment. We'll finish another time." And I'll throw it back at you - are you really this stupid? |
| Lunch starting at 1pm? Are you a Mad Men having martinis ? |
| Everyone has been there when something ordinary bothers extra ordinarily. It happens. You'll live and laugh. |
| Most people expect lunch to be from 12-1, and you should have blocked it off on your calendar. With respect, your colleague isn’t the stupid one here. |
| He accommodated your “lunch time” and he’s the stupid one?? Grow up. |
+1. I love to see something scheduled for 1:30 because it means it doesn't fall during my lunch. I get annoyed because my office loves noon meetings. |
| Rigid and inflexible are words you may hear during your review. |
| Block the lunch time. Duh. |
First, you should have blocked out this time on your calendar. That's on you. Second, it is completely unrealistic, and quite frankly odd, to believe that 2.5 hours of the day are off limits for meetings. |
|
Most people do not reserve 2.5 hours for lunch every day.
Also, some of us have too many meetings to limit them to 9-11:30 and 2-4 😞 |
