I was reading on the Ambassador thread that the foreign service groups are abuzz with how unrealistic it is.
Why? I have never seen a show that showed my career or my friends' careers as they really are, and why would they? Who wants to see that? Luckily I don't think we'll ever have to. |
| Sorry, The Diplomat thread |
| does Office Space count? |
Ha, yeah, that was my experience when I worked in a cube farm. |
| I can't imagine how quickly a network or streaming service would lose viewers if my career was shown on screen. Zzzzzz. |
| Honestly, The Office was pretty accurate. I'm not in sales, but the overall characterization of the different departments was spot-on. |
| Scrubs was the most realistic show about medicine |

I was often annoyed at the misrepresentation of teaching in Abbott Elementary.
I thought My So Called Life gave an accurate portrayal of life in a school. |
Yes! Mike Judge captured the cube farm/tech office of the late 1990s so perfectly. Recognized (exaggerated) real-life coworkers as archetypes depicted. One of my favorite movies for this very reason. |

Somewhat. Very unlikely a student would live with a teacher for more than one night. I led a 'book club' of season 4 of The Wire for my teacher colleagues. They were floored at how accurate it was. I was pretty new to the profession at the time. A number of people in the group had been teaching for over a decade. |
