The company I work at is like a cult—there are pictures of the founder everywhere, statues & quotes

It’s a small company that was started by a family. We have to do chants in honor of the founder 1x/week too

I’m pretty sure our neighbors are running a cult “business” in the DMV.

Just don’t let them convince you to undergo a surgical procedure so you can separate your work life and your personal life…it won’t end well.

Walmart stores supposedly do this. The backrooms have photos of Sam Walton.

I hope someone else remembers Boyd’s Bears!

This reminds me of the defunct the now defunct “gift” company in Gettysburg - the huge fake barn built to contain 3 or 4 levels of retail, a restaurant and a bear hospital was clearly an ego project for the founder.

The basement had a creepy interactive museum all about the founder and his path to success complete with posters, a re created family storefront, narrative signs explaining milestones. Um, you made overpriced teddy bears and plastic teddy bear figurines. You’re not Albert Einstein.

PP

Boyds Bears is a line of manufactured collectable resin and stuffed teddy bears produced from the early 1980s until 2014. Boyds was acquired in 2008 by Enesco, who announced in 2014 that the company had "made the difficult strategic decision to place Boyds into hibernation".
