| I am supposed to inherit a fairly new KIA soon but just read about the 17 AGs and DC asking NTSB to recall. Any guesses as to what will happen? I am getting the software update that will address the theft issue but is it still likely to be targeted? They put a sticker on the windshield but seems like not much. Will the pending recall for security impact insurability? Welcome any thoughts. It would be street parked in DC. |

What year?
I think the theft issues stopped with the '21 models. I have a '23 model that had no issue insuring. It's also not part of the recall. My nephew received a '20 Kia from a relative and had a heck of a time getting it insured in DC. |

It's a 20.
I had hoped that the update would make a difference but so far am striking out re: insurance with the pending situation. It's a shame, it has only a few thousand miles and is in excellent condition. |

For anyone in this situation, Progressive is telling me that with the recall update performed they will write a new policy, ie, car will be insurable in DC. The rates seemed reasonable. State Farm said no new policies at this time.
KIA is rolling out the security update on a rolling basis based on VIN number. |
