Republicans and white demographics

A lot of Republicans seem to support outlawing abortion because we need more white babies. Elon Musk is a recent, prominent example. Does anyone think that Republicans would be more successful persuading others if they just explained their gripe and asked white women to have more babies? Banning abortion seems like an odd back door to get at this. Also, only 33% of abortions are by white women, so outlawing abortion would seem to increase the share of minorities. So, what are the Republicans thinking? I don’t get it.

No, not that. Just trying to understand why Republicans need to bring abortion into the demographic debate when abortion statistics don’t even support their argument. So, if they want white women to have more babies, just say that. Why bring abortion into the debate at all?
