When to replace a roof?

I don’t know how old my roof is, but I assume around 15-20 years. It looks perfectly fine. How do I know when to replace it? I figure if I call roofing companies they will just tell me it needs to be replaced!

Op here. I looked on our inspection report and it says the roof is asphalt dimensional shingles.

Found out I have a 50 year warranty on the shingles.

The roof is exactly 15 years old.

That's a bad idea. If the roof is 15-20 years and not a 30 or 50 year roof it's time.

I would NOT wait until it leaks.
