Restaurants you used to like but have gone downhill

Anonymous
I am really bummed that one of my go to decent restaurants of over 25 years has simply imploded.

Even one of my kids loved it; up until right around Covid. Honestly, I think he was going down hill even before Covid.
I am talking about the uncle Julio’s in Arlington. The food is still decent (to us); not quite the quality - but the service is horrid for eating there or taking out.
We have cut back from once a month maybe to only on son’s birthday or maybe one other time a year.

We just got this week and 3 items were missing; one totally wrong. Granted, it was for 8 people but at this point we just expect it to be screwed up or not that great.

Anyone else go through the slow and painful end of a once enjoyed establishment? Did you find a replacement easily? I am really bummed about this rio grande and feel like I lost a friend.

Ruth's Chris. Sides are all super heavy. The potatoes au gratin have potato cubes. it felt like cafeteria food.

I think the uncle Julio’s in bethesda has also slipped.

Cheesecake Factory.
Before everyone pounces on me it’s the only restaurant that my siblings and I can currently agree upon when we gather with all the kids. Service and food are meh compared to the before times.

LOL! I thought you were going to talk about a real restaurant, not a chain. Uncle Julio's in Ballston has been terrible for YEARS, OP.

I think Haandi in Falls Church has declined significantly.

Any restaurants that have turned into chains have declined - I'm looking at you, Great American Restaurants.

Omg….so much. We used to order food from there a lot. Now we try.once every 6 months hoping it returns to normal. It was never gourmet food, but was reasonably good.

Uncle Julio’s has declined also.

I read the subject line and thought Lebanese Tavern obviously. Had this exact discussion with some friends today. I don't know about all of them, but Woodley Park is just really bad.

It's tough out there for restaurants.

I agree with this too - only one that is almost staying the same is Carlyle grand I think. It has only dropped less than the others.

Totally. Between the declining food quality and the airport-lounge decor, we barely go anymore.
