I need a new oncologist, someone open to other forms of healing.
|
| Please don’t. Stage 1 breast cancer killed my friend thanks to holistic medicine. |

You would probably be better off seeing a naturopath in addition to a regular oncologist. There are a LOT of scammers out there who will tell you what you want to hear but only the recommended medical regimens are proven to treat and potentially cure the cancer. Nobody has cured cancer with herbs and acupuncture but there are some documented benefits from combining the treatments.
If you'd like a new oncologist, contact hospitals in your nearest city. The bigger hospitals have the best access to the latest proven treatments. |

So you want to die from a mostly treatable disease, like Steve Jobs. Go ahead, but don't whine later that the treatment has done nothing for you. |
My close relative was living as healthy as possible lifestyle with a very strict natural diet. When she got diagnosed with cancer, she immediately went full speed with all the standard medical cancer treatment without delay (surgery, radiation, everything). As soon as she recovered and was given a green light, she went back to her healthy lifestyle and diet (she didn’t need any long-term medication). She is alive, healthy and has been in remission for the last 30 years! I feel for your desire to solve this holistically, but cancer does not give you many chances. Please go with the standard medical treatment (the best and “meanest for the cancer” you can find). Your healthy lifestyle will allow you to recover faster and it will negate some of the toxicity that comes with the treatment. Wish you strength & luck. |

Surgery, chemo, radiation, and the new-ish targeted therapies are the gold standard without which you will die. They are PART OF living a healthy lifestyle! But if you want to cull the herd starting with yourself... I can't stop you. I hope you don't have dependents. |
In addition to surgery, chemo, and radiation? Or instead of? If the latter, just sign up now for hospice. Don't wast your money on snake oil. |
| Holistic oncologist is an oxymoron. What you can find is an oncologist, who works with other practitioners who can bring in a more holistic dimension. But do not compromise on the rigor of the oncologist. |

I’m sorry OP, I just realized we all jumped to give advice without understanding the most important aspect of your cancer.
If you don’t mind sharing, what stage is your cancer and what is the prognosis if you were to follow the standard treatment? |

GW has a center for integrative medicine that has a cancer program.

Didn’t Steve Jobs get state of the art treatment, including a liver transplant? |
No. He had pancreatic cancer, so he got a Whipple procedure. He also spent a lot of time trying to cure himself with alternative means. He did live a long time for someone with a usually fatal cancer though. |
Metastatic breast cancer. Diagnosed five years ago. I’m doing well but now oncologist wants to start radiation as there seems to be a mild uptake on the last CT scan. I don’t want to that route. |
Thank you! |
