So doesn't this indicate that TJ admissions is picking the wrong students to admit? These students went through an easier process and didn't pay a fee so they had no or little skin in the game. Other students are waitlisted or rejected who really want to attend and would say yes right away. |
Not really. An easy process means you get more applicants who haven't really thought about it. |
Fortunately, this isn't true and this narrative is simply being pushed by those who hope to get others to decline in order to create wait-list movement. |
With the change in quota many are underperformers coming from bad schools so they want to get to the at all costs to avoid theirpoor quality schools |
May be true in part but I think it reflects the expansion outside of the schools / families that knew deeply about it and were really gung ho about it before.
DD applied last year but was not sure she would go until she went to the open house. Even then it was more of a decision to give it a shot to see if it worked. She’s thriving there now and it’s been the right call for her. A big part of the hesitation on her - and my - part though was that we did not actually know much about the school because our area sends very few kids historically. So we just had no one to talk to about it first hand. That dynamic will improve in the years to come now that it’s a bit more spread out regionally than before. |
How many is “many” as per your post title? Let see TJ admitted 550 new students, did you asked one by one and find out about 200 kids not sure to take the spot? Or you heard about 2-3 from your little inner circle kids and you conclude it as “many”?
This kind of anonymous forum can get thousands of views, especially with bombastic click bait title. And yes, some of the readers opinion will shift after reading some “news or opinion”, regardles its is true or not. I hope people are more critical. |
Those parents/kids who have received admission offer, I sincerely request you to not pay heed to positive/negative views here. Please talk to current or former TJ parents or kids to make your decision. I am a current TJ parent, kid is a sophomore and is thriving there. We were in the same boat couple years back and we made the decision after talking to other TJ parents and kids. |
BINGO! |
+1 ... DS was unsure too until he attended the initial sessions and also spoke with a few current and past students. I think each kid takes his/her own time to decide. That is fine as long as it is before the due date. |
In the past (2025,26) 10+ seats were never filled. Kids "Accept" and still register to their base school effectively depriving another student of the seat (539/550 slots filled for class of 2026, it was similar for class of 2025). |
My family must have missed your query on the topic. Go back under your rock, you troll. |
It's honestly sad that some people are so desperate to do this. |
