Montana Girls Trip

Anonymous
Group of friends from DC. NY, LA, SF and Chicago, we have been meeting up once a year for decades. We’ve done all the usual suspects (e.g.; Nashville; New Orleans; Vegas) and this summer we want something totally different. We are thinking Montana. Nice ranch/resort, beautiful mountain views, and so forth.

Is this an insane idea for a group of women who would rather order cocktails than fly fish, and the last time they rode a horse was at someone’s 9th birthday party?

If we go through with it: Where should we stay? What should we so?

This is early July.

Thanks.

Go to Jackson’s hole and the grand Tetons or Whitefish/glacier. If you go to Jackson hole buck, a guy that can take you on a bike ride through the grand Tetons go kayaking on jenny lake. Go downtown in Jackson for dinner and drinks. If whitefish and glacier, get a tour of glacier on going to the sun road. Get a boat for a day on flathead lake, kayak on st Mary’s lake with a cooler and a bottle of champagne. Both places are incredible. Breathtaking and otherworldly! Have a wonderful time.

We did this last July - 5 college friends who have also been meeting up for the last two decades.

We did 4 days in Big Sky and 2 days in Jackson. Both were amazing but we felt we needed more time in Jackson. Both had amazing views. If you want to be around people, restaurants, do Jackson. If you want to be a bit more secluded, do Big Sky.

Can’t go wrong with either. It was one of my most fav girl trips.

Big sky is deserted in the summer.

Go to Covered Wagon Ranch. You can ride as much or as little as you want. You can stay for less than a week and combine it with a trip to Jackson Hole.

One thing to check is if you can fly nonstop from most of those cities. A good friend lives there and we've never been able to from DC, meaning it's a half-day travel there, full day of travel back with connections.
Also, I think fire season starts in July. My friend complains that it's awful and they can't sit outside.

You all will have a great time in Montana. Just the change in scenery alone is worth it. Enjoy!

Bozeman mt and Jackson wy are great but pp is right that they are not direct flights generally.

Consider Colorado? Fly to Denver? Then ranch or RMNP?

Actually during the summer there are direct flights to Bozeman from all the cities OP mentioned and lots more. Not daily and they sell out but it is becoming much easier to get to.
