Infertility Support and Discussion
| First beta came back low 14dpo and second one came back only 30% higher two days later. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? Thanks. |

I think they are supposed to double every 48-72 hours... Best of luck to you.

I'm guessing things are just fine, but I'd keep a close eye on things, meaning re-testing your betas regularly to make sure.
Not to freak you out, but I had an ectopic earlier this year that started with a low beta, then a slightly higher beta, then a few days of bleeding (that I thought was an early m/c). But then I got 4 positive OPKs in a row mid-cycle and realized something was wrong, so I did another beta, which was slightly higher, not lower! So they sent me for an u/s and we found the ectopic. (BTW, all ended safely and well.) Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you!! |
| I have had experience with slow rising betas a couple of times and they have not turned out well for me. One was ectopic and one was a missed miscarriage. That is not to say, however, that it won't work out for you. One single incident of a slow rising beta should be taken as just that and you should wait and see what happens with the next beta. I have seen many instances where folks have one read that doesn't double in the standard timeframe and then takes off again after that and hope that your does the same. Good luck! |

It resulted in a missed m/c for me. But I've read that some women have gone on to have perfectly normal pregnancies, too.
Good luck. |
| OP here - thanks so much for the replies. I am going in on Monday for another test but I do not expect much. I have been taking one FRER HPT per day and they are staying basically the same and maybe getting slighter darker yesterday and today. So I am still "pregnant" as of today. |
| For me this happen twice and both were a chemical pregnancy |
| Sadly -- I failed to double for the first two weeks, then I shot up suddenly. When I went in for US, there was the sac but nothing else. So I miscarried before 9 weeks. Your dr's would NEVER say this to someone in your position, but usually when betas don't double it does mean something is wrong. Although there are many stories of bad betas and healthy babies. I just think those happy stories are the exception. Sorry sweetie - hope for the best but be prepared. It's a GREAT sign that it implanted though, whatever happens. Hang in there. |
