Frameless shower glass - help!

| We are getting ready to order frameless shower glass (door + fixed panel) for our bathroom and I'm stumped. Every glass company I've talked to has said that the fixed panel has to be screwed into the curb, but everything I read online says you should never drill into horizontal surfaces in wet areas because it compromises the waterproofing. What gives? If you have something similar, did they screw into your curb and did you live to tell the tale? |

There's a metal piece at the curb that holds the glass but no screw is visible. Likely is underneath and sealed.
Hire a reputable company and trust them to know how to do it. |
